I watched Mel Gibson's Apocolypto again last night, and it inspired me to flick through my Mexican photos. I came across this one, taken in the Mayan ruins of Tekal. Don't be fooled by the dew, it was actually quite steamy and the moisture on the web is from low humidity hanging in the air.
We arrived quite early to the ruins, in order to beat the stream of people who would arrive shortly after us. It's a hot spot for tourists and getting up at 5am to reach this destination in the early hours of the morning was definitely worth it. This was part of a four week tour of Central America I experienced back in 2007.
