Little Clacton UK

Have you ever felt as though a massive void exists in your life?  I do.  Well, it's not actually my own life, as I know this very well, having lived it, I'm pretty familiar with myself.

It's my family history and there seems to be issue with locating information about my family from Little Clacton in Essex UK.  So, before you ask why I haven't tried one of the various genealogy sights available on the web these days, I have.  I seem to draw a massive blank when I research both my grandparents and their families.  At this stage, I have a lot of information about my grandmother and grandfather as my mother has many memories of them.  However, I seem to have an issue finding their siblings and basically anything more about their lives back then.

I do know my family was a little eccentric back then.  Some may say this has not changed with current generations, but I like to think our family is quite normal, mainly because we don't ostracise any of our family members as I believe they did a few generations back.  Which makes me wonder if they had reason to distance themselves from each other, what happened?

Take my grandmother for instance.  She was born Winifred Laura Turner and was one of five children.  Her siblings being Ethel, Ruben, Alfred and Phyllis.  However she never kept in contact with any of the siblings until much later in life when she rekindled her friendship with Phyllis.  Sadly toward the end of my grandmothers life, alzheimers started to set in and she became very abusive toward Phyllis's grandchildren (via snail mail) prior to Phyllis dying a few years earlier.  Apart from that, I know very little about the others.  Ethel became Ethel Goldsmith, Ruben was killed when he was 21, Alfred moved to America and Phyllis remained in England.

I'd love to hear from anyone who knows my family and I'd dearly love to hear stories of their lives if known.
